Kindermusik University Vocal Review

A required accreditation assessment of your singing ability

What is a vocal review?

Teaching Kindermusik classes in a studio setting requires a proficiency in singing accurately in the ideal range for young children to process and imitate. The Vocal Review is how we assess that ability. It is directly related to acquiring the designation of Accredited Kindermusik Educator, and the option to offer Kindermusik’s studio curricula within your teaching environment.

An Accredited Kindermusik Educator sings and leads her class.

How do I complete and submit my vocal review?

You will need to video record yourself (via laptop or smartphone) singing a designated song, which is

Memorized

Unaccompanied, and

In a light head voice range

How do I prepare for my vocal review?

Listen to the songs and read the sheet music first. This will give you a good idea of the time and effort that goes into preparing for a typical Kindermusik class each week.

Note that you will sing in the same key as the sheet music is written. Soprano/Alto voices will be in the range of C4 to E5, and Tenor/Bass voices will be in the range of C3 to E4.

Which songs do I have to sing?

If you are applying to become an Accredited Kindermusik Educator, you will record yourself singing “I See You” and “New River Train,” first verse only, in English, a capella (no accompaniment). Please record both songs in one video, as the application will only accept one recording link. You may give yourself a starting pitch on an instrument, or use the recorded pitches provided.
